I am proposing a visit to the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre, home of the world famous Lovell telescope, and would love to get a group together.
I am proposing we visit on a Saturday sometime in the next few months. I have been advised that groups can only be accepted during term time and they suggest that we visit in the morning (they are open from 10am).
The entry price is £6.50 or £4.50 for concessions (students/OAPS/children). Depending on availability, there is also the possibility of having a talk by one of the guides. This is charged at a flat rate of £40 for the whole group.
There is a café on site but unfortunately, I am unable to reserve a table on a Saturday.
The full address of the venue is:
Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre
The University of Manchester
The nearest mainline station is Macclesfield and the Discovery Centre can then be reached by a 20 minute taxi ride. However, I am sure lifts can be arranged with those who are driving.
There are some hotels nearby for anyone who needed to stay over. Once a date has been decided, I will get information about these hotels out to everyone.
Children, partners, friends etc. will be more than welcome. I will get final numbers once we have decided on a date.
I will be using a website called Agree a Date to decide on a date so I will be using this site to collate details. So, if you are interested, all I need is your email address. All you need to do is email me at email@example.com, letting me know you are interested, or, if you are reading this on Facebook, reply to this post with your email address. I need email addresses by Monday 13th April.
If you have any queries or questions, I can be contacted via the above email address or by Facebook.
I hope to hear from you all soon.
