Proposed visit to the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre

Jodrell BankI am proposing a visit to the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre, home of the world famous Lovell telescope, and would love to get a group together.

I am proposing we visit on a Saturday sometime in the next few months. I have been advised that groups can only be accepted during term time and they suggest that we visit in the morning (they are open from 10am).

The entry price is £6.50 or £4.50 for concessions (students/OAPS/children). Depending on availability, there is also the possibility of having a talk by one of the guides. This is charged at a flat rate of £40 for the whole group.

There is a café on site but unfortunately, I am unable to reserve a table on a Saturday.

The full address of the venue is:

Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre
The University of Manchester
SK11 9DL

The nearest mainline station is Macclesfield and the Discovery Centre can then be reached by a 20 minute taxi ride. However, I am sure lifts can be arranged with those who are driving.

There are some hotels nearby for anyone who needed to stay over. Once a date has been decided, I will get information about these hotels out to everyone.

Children, partners, friends etc. will be more than welcome. I will get final numbers once we have decided on a date.

I will be using a website called Agree a Date to decide on a date so I will be using this site to collate details. So, if you are interested, all I need is your email address. All you need to do is email me at, letting me know you are interested, or, if you are reading this on Facebook, reply to this post with your email address. I need email addresses by Monday 13th April.

If you have any queries or questions, I can be contacted via the above email address or by Facebook.

I hope to hear from you all soon.
